Voice over IP (VoIP) Workshop
Abstract
This hands-on workshop—which took place September 30 - October 1, 2004 in Austin,
Texas—provided an overview of emerging voice
over IP (VoIP) technologies, including: the session initiation protocol
(SIP), IP-based voice disaster recovery, IP-TDM media gateways, and
VoIP quality monitoring. Working in several small groups, attendees
deployed several working VoIP systems in a testbed environment.
Attendees learned to configure a SIP proxy, to add SRV and NAPTR
records to DNS, and to provision SIP hard and soft phones.
